Journey with Us
My name is Dennis Shorty and I am a full- time multimedia visual and performing artist living in a remote community of Yukon. I am one of the ten First Nation master carvers in the Yukon and have been working in visual art for over 50 years. I am also one of the few fluent speakers of my native language Kaska.
“I Denesini gushazi esguzua lete … My art is a reflection of how I feel.”
“I gushazi yeh gucho tsi gute doga … It is a spiritual connection to my Ancestors.”

Testimonials
My radio is set to CHON-FM.....it's the only station that I get clearly out here! And every so often I hear "Hello, This is Dennis Shorty. I listen to CHON-FM." And it brings a little more light into my day!...

Denta Dennis and Jen. So, January is just not my favourite month. But I've been listening to your CD on my way to work each morning and it makes me feel much more positive and energized. energized. Souga Sinla………..

I am planning to be in the Yukon once again this coming year, but not without having a stay with Jenny & Dennis, simply because they are beautiful human beings who inspire me to keep looking for more ways to support and promote Indigenous Cultural Entrepreneurs across our great indigenous landscape.

Thank you for this amazing day. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with my mother and me. I think a lot about this day and the inspiring words you said to me. It has become a part of me, my art and what I share with others. Your kind soul and willingness to share and being a knowledge keeper is everyone's responsibility. Culture is held by all, not just by some. Your work is beautiful, and I treasure the day I got to spend with you.
